The Joyce/O'Donnell School Of Irish Dancing
I, Susan Joyce, nee O'Donnell, have been running the dance class as a hobby for almost 27 years. We have lessons in The Irish Centre on Mondays and Wednesdays, also in Crossgates on a Saturday.
Dancers from 4 years up to mid-20s learn the skills and techniques of Irish step dancing, both for fun and up to World Championship competitive standards.
Over the years we have achieved many successes, returning from major competitions - The World / All Ireland / Great Britain /British and Scottish Nationals with silverware - and numerous regional champions as well as enjoying local competitions with our younger dancers.
It is not all about competition though. Dancers from the school have also gone on to further their dance careers, performing in several of the touring shows like Riverdance. The dancers also perform at various events throughout Yorkshire and further afield, even as far as China! Many will say they have a great social life through dancing.
I now have the added bonus of having three former pupils helping me in the class - Catherine McGreevy, Sinead Lister and Scott Cordon.
